Jun Saito, Project Professor, Keio University,
and Senior Research Fellow, Japan Center for Economic Research
Jun Saito served as the Japanese Government’s Chief Economist (2007-2012), during the global financial & economic crisis and the Great East-Japan Earthquake. He worked for the International Monetary Fund between 1987 and 1990. Jun Saito is an influential economist and is regularly invited to speak at the National Economists Club, the CSIS, the USJI/USAI, and the IIF (Washington), as well as the IMF, the ADBI, Bruegel or the Brookings Institution. Professor Saito will share his assessment of the state and prospects of the Japanese economy three years after Shinzo Abe was appointed Prime Minister. The discussion will deal with the efficiency of Japan's monetary policy, its consequences for inflation and finance, growth prospects, the TransPacific Partnership and the country's foreign trade prospects. The meeting will be held under the Chatham House rule.
